Co-Leading Among Leaders in the Church
This episode begins with a story of the graduation in Senegal:
- We were going to start the graduation ceremony at 11am and we ended up starting at 5pm. Lunch was at 3pm and dinner was at midnight.
- Every leader must be present before starting events and making major decisions. This is co-leading.
How did we see Jesus lead his disciples?
- He sent them out two by two. Rarely did he do anything on his own or did the disciples do work on their own.
- Mar 6:7 And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.
- Luk 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.
- Mat 18:16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.
A discussion about when did leaders work alone in the Scriptures
How do we see the church lead in history?
- Act 15:1 But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
- Act 15:2 And after Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders about this question.
How to organize the leadership of congregations today: We are to appoint Elders not an elder.
