Leaders Multiply
In this episode, David Witt recalls the story of Barnabas, a church planter in India who was resistant to the gospel at first. Then God got a hold of his heart. Barnabas was radically transformed, lead many others to Jesus and started several churches.
The first commandment in the Bible
"Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”" (Genesis 1:26-28)
A story in the Bible demonstrating multiplication
"And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’ And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure. Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”" (Luke 13:6-9)

GA Leadership #5: What is Discipleship?

What is Discipleship?
This episode begins with the story of the miraculous conversion of Pastor Singh in India.
How to you define Discipleship:
Biblical Discipleship is three words: Hear and Obey
Stats:
- How many times is the Word Study in the King James? 3
- How many times is a form of hearing used? Over 1600
Throughout the Bible God Speaks:
- In the Beginning God spoke to Adam and Eve. Through history the Lord has always spoken to mankind.
- Today we have the Holy Spirit and the mark of his disciples is first that they hear.
Mark 12
"And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions." (Mark 12:28-34)

Scriptures about how Christ Shares His Reign or Co-leads with Us
2Ti 2:12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
Romans 8:17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him
Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord: that is my name: and my GLORY will I NOT GIVE ANOTHER, neither my praise to graven images.

Co-Leading Among Leaders in the Church
This episode begins with a story of the graduation in Senegal:
- We were going to start the graduation ceremony at 11am and we ended up starting at 5pm. Lunch was at 3pm and dinner was at midnight.
- Every leader must be present before starting events and making major decisions. This is co-leading.
How did we see Jesus lead his disciples?
- He sent them out two by two. Rarely did he do anything on his own or did the disciples do work on their own.
- Mar 6:7 And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.
- Luk 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.
- Mat 18:16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.
A discussion about when did leaders work alone in the Scriptures
How do we see the church lead in history?
- Act 15:1 But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
- Act 15:2 And after Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders about this question.

Peace in the Midst of Conspiracies
Mark Stafford and David Witt discuss the current state of unrest in the American political sphere and offer both a global perspective and real hope from God's Word.
The passage referenced in the podcast is Isaiah 8:11-17
New Living Translation
A Call to Trust the Lord
11 The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said,
12 “Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do,
and don’t live in dread of what frightens them.
13 Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life.
He is the one you should fear.
He is the one who should make you tremble.
14 He will keep you safe.
But to Israel and Judah
he will be a stone that makes people stumble,
a rock that makes them fall.
And for the people of Jerusalem
he will be a trap and a snare.
15 Many will stumble and fall,
never to rise again.
They will be snared and captured.”
16 Preserve the teaching of God;
entrust his instructions to those who follow me.
17 I will wait for the Lord,
who has turned away from the descendants of Jacob.
I will put my hope in him.
English Standard Version
11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with his strong hand upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 “Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. 13 But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 14 And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many shall stumble on it. They shall fall and be broken; they shall be snared and taken.”
16 Bind up the testimony; seal the teaching[a] among my disciples. 17 I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.

GA Leadership #1: Leading with Verbal Communication

What is this podcast all about: Orality
Here are a few highlight's we cover:
- Preeminence of Orality around the world in restricted and unreached areas of the world.
- Story of “Jesus loves me this I know for their “Faces tell me so” in China. Currently over 40 million Chinese lack a personal Bible.
- Story of Russell going along the river in Colombia and lady waved them down to receive her first Bible of 20 years. Currently over seven million Venezuelans lack a personal Bible.
How Jesus Mostly Communicated
"Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”" (Luke 24:44)
Christians communicated the gospel orally for the first three centuries
Most Christians in history grown in discipleship through oral communication
"But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak," (2 Corinthians 4:7-13)
How effective leaders most often communicate
Leaders develop effective oral communication.
American’s are Oral Learners
If Americans are mostly oral learners what about the rest of the world? The developing world?
